Congratulations to Yasmin Dominguez-Santos our December Superindent's Award Winner!

    From the Principal's Desk

    Dear Parents/Guardians/Students:

It is hard to believe that in a few weeks we will be on Winter Break! Things have been going so quickly this school year, thanks to our amazing students and staff. November was full of learning and laughter here at Fortuna Middle School. It was wonderful to see so many families on our campus during conference week and we hope that you will continue to encourage your student to work hard, be respectful, and do their best during the 2nd Trimester.

On November 30th, we had a 6th-8th grade assembly with speaker Dr. Corliss Bennett. She spoke to our students about “No More Cs.” We also had our monthly student awards assembly, as well as the November Student Appreciation Day.

The 8th grade Parent Committee continues to meet monthly and has been fundraising for the FMS trip/activity and graduation. Recently our 8th grade Parent Committee and students worked at the Humboldt County Ice Rink in order to earn funds for their trip. Our next 8th grade fundraiser is the drive-thru dinner on December 5th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Tickets are pre-sale for $10 from the FMS office or any 8th grade student. We will have a limited amount of dinners for sale at the event as well. Please support our students by purchasing a ticket.

On December 12, 2018 we will have our Winter Music Program and 1st Trimester Awards Night. The Winter Program will start at 5:15pm, with awards following at 6:00pm. If your student earned Citizen of the Month, Student of the Month, Perfect Attendance, or Honor Roll during the 1st Trimester, he or she will be recognized with a medal at this event.

On December 21, 2018 we will have our December awards assembly, classroom parties, and Student Appreciation Day. Eligible students will earn a FREE ticket to the Humboldt County Ice Rink if they have their merits, good attendance, and no Ds or Fs. If your student is struggling, please encourage your student to sign up for the Excel Study Hall Program which is three days a week and FREE for FMS students. See the front office for an enrollment packet.
